FLOWERY BRANCH — The Atlanta Falcons announced Monday that they activated center Joe Hawley from the reserve/commissioner exemption list and placed wide receiver Kevin Cone on injured reserve.
Hawley, the backup to veteran center Todd McClure, has played in six games this season as a backup.
He was suspended by the NFL for four games in November after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance. His agent released a statement that Hawley took Adderall in September without filing the proper paperwork with the league for a medical exemption. The stimulant is perhaps best known as a treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Cone, a Georgia Tech product, has played in 12 games this season, mainly on special teams.
