SUGAR HILL -- Sugar Hill City Hall will be closed for business Jan. 7 and 8 as officials move to their long-awaited new building and prepare for its grand opening.
The current City Hall at 4988 W. Broad St. will be closed on Monday, Jan. 7, and Tuesday, Jan. 8, for city employees to move down the street to 5039 W. Broad St. Business will resume Jan. 9 at the new location.
A total of six departments will be moving to the new City Hall: administration, planning and development, post office, gas department, code enforcement and building inspections.
The $11 million new building was originally scheduled for a grand opening on Dec. 1, but flooring wasn't installed at the 33,000-square-foot structure soon enough. The city will host a grand opening from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13.
