CARROLTON -- Greater Atlanta Christian's girls basketball team held on during a tight second half to defeat Randolph-Clay 52-49 to win the Carrollton Holiday Tournament on Saturday.
The Spartans (9-1) led 20-16 at the half and were able to stay in the lead to win the title. Brianna Cummings led GAC with 15, while Sydni Means and Cici Buford scored 14 and 13, respectively. Key to the Spartan win was the 6-for-6 free throw effort from Means and Cummings in the fourth quarter.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Meadowcreek 51, Druid Hills 41
AUGUSTA -- Meadowcreek defeated Druid Hills 51-41 to win third place in the Holiday Tournament on Saturday. Ashley Okoku led the Mustangs with 16 points. Courtney Fields added 14 points and teammate Angel Alexander had 12 points and six steals.
Hebron 56, East Jackson 45
ATLANTA -- Amber Skidgel scored 26 to lead Hebron Christian to a 56-45 win over East Jackson at Philips Arena on Saturday afternoon. Jozie Lewis also contributed to the victory with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Parkview 57, Forest Park 49
ALPHARETTA -- Parkview defeated Forest Park 57-49 to win the consolation finals at the St. Francis Shootout tournament Saturday night. T.J. Thomas led the Panthers with 16 points and was named to the all-tournament team. Alario Harris dropped in 13 for Parkview.
Apalachee 76, Monroe Area 52
MONROE -- Apalachee improved its record to 9-2 with a 76-52 win over Monroe on Saturday night. The Wildcats raced out to a 40-15 halftime lead over the Hurricanes and were never tested. Cameron Blakely paced the Apalachee attack with 16 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. Rakim Peters poured in 14 points and point guard, Tua Cleveland scored four points, had five steals and dished out seven assists.
East Jackson 69, Hebron 63
ATLANTA -- Hebron Christian Academy dropped a hard fought contest 69-63 to East Jackson Saturday afternoon in a game played at Philips Arena. Tyler Skidgel led the Lions (3-7) with 30 points.
WRESTLING
Greater Atlanta Christian sweeps a pair
NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian wrestlers defeated Rockmart (57-18) and Johns Creek (48-24) Saturday night. Picking up two victories for the Spartans were: Brandon Bradley (113), Emeritus Morris (126), Carter Clinebell (132), Joey Schrader (145), Aiden Jarrett (160), Hunter Martin (182), Mitchell Shea (195).
Parkview places four at McCallie Invitational
CHATTANOOGA -- Harrison Schmid's runner up finish at 195 pounds led Parkview's 12th place effort at the McCallie Invitational. Also placing for the Panthers were Andrew Webb (126) and Khalil Shakur (160) with fourth places finishes and Edwin Lindzy (145) who finished fifth.
