Gwinnett Daily Post
National Signing Day in football for high school seniors isn't until February, but Wednesday marked the beginning of junior college players signing with four-year schools and several Gwinnett grads locked up their futures.
Norcross grad Ben Bradley, a defensive tackle out of Hutchinson Community College (Kan.), is headed to Tennessee as expected -- he committed to the Volunteers this summer. He's ranked No. 41 on ESPN's national list of top junior college recruits.
Four spots behind Bradley on ESPN's list is South Gwinnett's Aaron Wimberly, who played for Iowa Western Community College. The speedy back signed Wednesday with Iowa State.
Another ESPN top 100 JUCO recruit, No. 86 Kenny Flowers, signed with Texas A&M. The outside linebacker went to Parkview.
The top-ranked JUCO prospect with Gwinnett ties is Northeast Mississippi Junior College defensive lineman Lavon Hooks, who is No. 15 on ESPN's list. The former Meadowcreek and Brookwood player was expected to sign Wednesday, but was still deciding between Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Auburn as of Wednesday night.
Other locals moving on from JUCOs to four-year schols were Hutchinson CC defensive end Demetrius Alston (Norcross) to Cincinnati and Georgia Military College tight end Kris Hurley (Archer) to Presbyterian.
