DULUTH -- Gwinnett's Chamber of Commerce is giving a hand to businesses involved in exporting and freight, with a new automated web-based Certificate of Origin processing service.
The eCertify service, established by an Australian software company, was created to eliminate the manual processes of stamping and signing exports, a responsibility local chambers of commerce have carried since 1923, a press release said.
The certificates are mandatory to validate goods for export to most countries, but sending them or traveling to the chamber offices for manual processing is inefficent and costly, the release added. The electronic submissions now available through the Gwinnett Chamber is expected to eliminate courier costs, reduce administration costs, reduce errors, improve turnaround time, and provide prompt notification of acceptance via the same electronic method.
"Our exporters and freight forwarders are looking for ways to increase efficiency, reduce time and speed up delivery when it comes to Certificates of Origin," said Vince DeSilva, the Chamber's senior vice president of member services.
He added, "eCertify allows us to provide a proactive approach for an overall community beneficial service. This strategic process results in fewer manual processes and errors through user-friendly technology that takes just minutes, enabling exporters to increase profitability and gain a competitive advantage."
Gwinnett Chamber members can sign up for eCertify for $25 per certificate. The non-member price is $75 per certificate. All certificates will be processed within 24 hours, during normal business hours, 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
