GAB: Vince Dooley to visit Kroger on Friday

SNELLVILLE -- Former University of Georgia head football coach Vince Dooley will sign copies of his books and other collegiate memorabilia Friday at the Snellville Kroger on Hwy. 124.

Dooley coached the UGA football team for 25 years and led the Bulldogs to more than 200 victories, including a 1980 National Championship.

The coach has published more than nine books focused on life, the South and football, including: "How 'Bout Them Dawgs," "Dooley: My 40 Years at Georgia," "Hairy Dawg's Journey Through the Peach State," and "Vince Dooley's Garden: A Horticultural Journey of a Football Coach."

Attendees can purchase UGA merchandise as well as copies of Dooley's new book at the event, which is scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Kroger, 1670 Hwy. 124, Snellville.

'Middle Earth' artist unveils work in Norcross

NORCROSS -- World famous fantasy artist Jef Murray will be at Norcross' Lionheart Theatre on Sunday to sign his new 2013 "Jef Murray Middle-Earth Calendar" and posters.

The event is pat of Lionheart's presentation of "The Hobbitt," the stage version of J.R.R. Tolkien's famous book, which is also slated to hit cinema box offices this weekend.

Murray is an internationally known artist, author and illustrator whose work "sprouts from the leaves" of fantasy publications and calendars worldwide.

Although all Lionheart performances of "The Hobbitt" are sold out, Murray will be available to visit with fans with or without play tickets prior to the 1 p.m. Sunday show.

Georgia SPCA holds vaccination clinic

SUWANEE -- The Georgia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is holding a low-cost vaccination clinic from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at 1175 Buford Highway, Suite 109, Suwanee.

All proceeds from the clinic go to help Georgia SPCA assist homeless animals in the state.

Services include: canine and feline rabies shots, $10; canine and feline distemper/parvo shots, $10; canine bordetella shots, $10; canine heartworm test, $25; microchip, $25; combo test, $25; nail clipping, $10; deworming, $5; and flea treatment, $5.
