Christmas shipping deadlines approach

LAWRENCEVILLE -- With Christmas two weeks away, the deadline to send mail or a package via the U.S. Postal Service is in less than 11 days.

Mike Benevento, the manager of the Lawrenceville Post Office, said that Dec. 17 will be the heaviest of a busy week next week. Dec. 20 is the last day to send something first class to a domestic destination.

Benevento said customers should have packages prepared and addressed when they arrive at the post office to ensure an efficient experience. A USPS employee will be available next week to help customers, and supplies are readily available in the lobby.

The last day to ship by FedEx Ground is Dec. 17, while UPS' deadline is Dec. 21. The USPS Priority Mail deadline is Dec. 21.
