Margaret Adams Oakes, age 71, of Buckhead, Georgia, formerly of Lawrenceville, Georgia, entered into rest on Thursday, December 6, 2012. She was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Gene C. “Baby” Oakes, Sr. She is survived by daughter, Tracy & Mike Parillo; son, Scott & Sandra Allen; grandchildren, Josh & Beth Allen, Rachel Parillo, Jeremy & Cheyenne Allen, Joseph Parillo, and David Allen; great grandchildren, Tyler & Mason Allen, and Kayla & Kimber Allen; four sisters, Cat Branam, Ellen Hunter, Linda Holbrook, and Shelia Wallace; two brothers, Terry Adams and Wayne Adams; numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, other relatives and a host of friends. Margaret Adams Oakes was born on January 2, 1941, in Lawrenceville, Georgia, to Birtie Louise Harrison Adams and Albert Levi Adams. She was a 1959 graduate of Central Gwinnett High School where she was an outstanding basketball player. Margaret retired from the State of Georgia as the Gwinnett/Rockdale Counties Human Resources Representative. She loved traveling with her family and friends, especially playing cards and gambling at the casinos. Margaret and Baby enjoyed their retirement in Buckhead but Lawrenceville was always home. Margaret’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Margaret was known by so many people in the Lawrenceville community and will be missed by them all. A Memorial Service Celebrating the Life of Margaret Adams Oakes will be held Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 4:00 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel.
