• Eggs Benedict — Two poached Eggs with Canadian bacon topped with hollandaise sauce on an English muffin, served with home fries, $9

• Patty melt — Grilled beef served on grilled rye bread with melted Swiss cheese, sauteed onions, cole slaw and a pickle, $5.75

• Broiled deep sea scallops — Cooked with a lemon butter sauce on a bed of rice and mixed vegetables, $18

• Country fried steak — Battered and fried steak served with gravy, mashed potatoes and either soup or salad, $11

Location: The Duluth Diner is located at the intersection of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Howell Ferry Road, next to Rite Aid.

Hours: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays

Atmosphere: Duluth Diner stands alone next to a Rite Aid with its own separate parking lot. It's slightly hidden from the road, so you'll have to keep your eyes peeled or you may miss it.

When you enter through two sets of doors, you'll walk into a warm dining area, instead of the '50s-style diner many people are accustom to.

"Traditional diners are a metal building with mirrors and neon lights. ... It's a different style than what I like," owner Erion Ziu said. "I wanted mine to look more like a warm restaurant or home."

He brought in darker woods and colors -- maroons, greens and beiges -- to fill the space. He also added works of art to the walls and flower sconces for additional color.

The kitchen is open to the main dining room and guests can watch the cooks while they prepare one of hundreds of dishes from the lengthy menu.

Menu: The diner offers a wide variety of food, so there is a little something for everyone.

"My specialty is Italian food and diners. Nothing else," Ziu said laughing. "I love sushi, but I don't know how to make it, but this menu is what I know."

So, he and his crew created the menu of all menus with steak, pork chops, breakfast, burgers, sandwiches and salads -- and that's not the half of it.

"We wanted to attract all sorts of people," he said.

There are also lunch and dinner specials daily, plus different soups made in-house. Ziu personally shops for the vegetables on a regular basis to keep his food fresh.

If you've come in with a sweet tooth, Ziu has that covered, too. Near the front door, there is a display case holding at least six different types of cakes made by local hand-selected bakers. The desserts are the only thing that isn't prepared in Ziu's kitchen.

"I would have to have another kitchen to do all that," he said. "But they come whenever we call for more cakes -- about twice a week."

The cakes that are in stock currently are chocolate, raspberry white chocolate, mocha and coconut. None of those excite you? Check back next week when the new flavors hit the shelves.
