NORCROSS -- History will come to light this weekend, with Norcross's annual "Celebration of Lights."
The December tradition has hundreds lighting luminaries to honor their loved ones at the city's historic cemetery.
This year's event includes stories from local historian Gene Ramsey, who will share stories that predate the Civil War. He will begin a free tour at 4 p.m., Saturday with the community lighting luminaries at 5:30 p.m.
City spokeswoman Tixie Fowler describes the event as "a special way to acknowledge (people's) lives and the gifts they left behind, whether it's a colorful or unusual story, a bit of history, their commitment to the town during their lifetime, or simply a loving memory.
The luminaries will line the graves and walkways of the cemetery's original section which predates the town's incorporation in 1870.
