LILBURN -- A Grayson man has been charged in a fatal traffic accident from the weekend.
James Earl White, 73, of Grayson was arrested Monday and charged with misdemeanor vehicular homicide and failure to obey a stop sign. Gwinnett jail records show he was released the same day on $5,900 bond.
According to a police report, White was the at-fault driver in a Sunday wreck that claimed the life of 86-year-old Norcross resident Shirley Jones.
Incident reports said White's Lincoln Navigator was stopped on Louis Road in Lilburn just before 2 p.m. Sunday, waiting to turn left onto Killian Hill Road. White reportedly pulled into the roadway and in front of Jones' Geo Prizm, causing a collision.
"(Jones) was transported to ... Eastside Medical Center, where she died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision," police said.
White and a 61-year-old female passenger were taken to Gwinnett Medical Center and treated for minor injuries. White later turned himself in to authorities.
Neither alcohol nor speed are believed to be factors in the crash, police say.
