9 displaced by Lilburn house fire

LILBURN -- Nine people, including five children, were displaced early Wednesday when their Lilburn home suffered extensive fire damage.

Gwinnett County firefighters were called to the home on the 4400 block of Five Forks-Trickum Road at about 1:20 a.m. Wednesday and made immediate entry to battle the blaze. Crews were able to contain the majority of damage to the front bedroom, spokesman Lt. Colin Rhoden said, where a resident speculated that the fire started.

"There was extensive fire damage in the bedroom and other damage throughout the house was from smoke, water and fire department extinguishment efforts," Rhoden said.

A resident told officials that she didn't know how the fire started, but said that it may have been started by a "faulty phone charger," Rhoden said. Fire investigators ruled the cause undetermined and under investigation.

No injuries were reported, but a total of nine residents -- five of them children -- were displaced from the home. The Red Cross was notified for assistance.
