PREP ROUNDUP: Duluth boys top Mill Creek 64-62 in double-overtime

DULUTH -- Shamus Goss of Duluth led all players with 30 points on Tuesday night as the Wildcats held off Mill Creek 64-62 in double-overtime. The win was the first time Duluth (5-1, 1-1) has defeated Mill Creek since 2004.

Brice Wooten also had 10 points for Duluth. Mill Creek was paced by 26 points from Trevon Shaw and 14 points Elijah Bryant.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Dacula 61, Central 54

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Dacula led from wire-to-wire on Tuesday night as the Falcons topped Central Gwinnett 61-54 in a Region 8-AAAAAA battle.

Jaylen Williams led the Falcons (4-1, 2-1) with 23 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Brandon Goodson also had 13 points and seven boards, while Kevon Tucker added 12 points and nine rebounds.

Central (4-3, 0-2) was led by 16 points from Brian Egejuru and 14 points from Justin Martin.

Meadowcreek 66, Mountain View 57

NORCROSS -- Austin Robinson of Meadowcreek scored 24 points on Tuesday night as the Mustangs defeated Mountain View 66-57 in a Region 7-AAAAAA game.

Meadowcreek (3-4, 1-2) also received 10 points each from Jonathan Jones and Terrell Davis.

North 74, Habersham Central 40

MOUNT AIRY -- North Gwinnett remained unbeaten at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in Region 7-AAAAAA on Tuesday as the Bulldogs ran past Habersham Central 74-40.

Top scorers for North were Owen Lewis with 15, Kam Calhoun with 14 and Ahmad Caver with 12.

Apalachee 81, Gainesville 65

GAINESVILLE -- Apalachee picked up its first win in region play on Tuesday night with an 81-65 win over Gainesville in Region 8-AAAAA.

Kamar Baldwin led the Wildcats (3-2, 1-2) with 21 points and six steals, while Austin Miller came off the bench to add 12 points and seven rebounds. Cameron Blakley added 13 rebounds, 11 points and four blocks.

Mount Pisgah 68, Hebron 53

JOHNS CREEK -- Hebron fell to 2-4 on Tuesday night as Mount Pisgah knocked off the Lions 68-53 in a non-region game.

Tyler Skigel led Hebron with 17 points, while Derek Vandiver added 14 points.

Hapeville Charter 66, Providence 47

UNION CITY -- Providence fell to 2-4 on Tuesday night with a 66-47 loss to Hapeville Charter.

Charlie Scott was the leading scorer for the Storm with nine points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Central 56, Dacula 41

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Alexandra Frazier of Central Gwinnett scored 29 points on Tuesday night as the Black Knights knocked off Dacula 56-41 in a Region 8-AAAAAA game. Frazier also added six rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Briana McGee also added eight points as Central improved to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the region. Dacula (3-2, 2-1) was led by a 17-point, 17-rebound effort from Faustina Aifuwa.

South 55, Grayson 50

LOGANVILLE -- Colette Onenda scored a game-high 20 points on Tuesday night to lead South Gwinnett 55-50 over Grayson in a Region 8-AAAAAA battle. Taylor Harris also helped South (4-3, 2-1) in the win with 12 points.

Grayson (2-4, 0-3) was led by Tiara James with 10 points. Lika Bah added nine points and seven rebounds, while Sydine Hixson scored nine points.

North 60, Habersham Central 24

MOUNT AIRY -- Lexie Brown of North Gwinnett logged 25 points, seven assists, six rebounds and five steals on Tuesday night in leading the Bulldogs to a 60-24 rout of Habersham Central.

North (4-0, 2-0) also received 17 points and four rebounds from Peyton Whitted and 10 points from Baylee Rexing.

Mountain View 58, Meadowcreek 45

NORCROSS -- Mountain View improved to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in Region 7-AAAAAA on Tuesday night with a 58-45 win over Meadowcreek.

Iceis Walker led the Bears in scoring with 16 points, while Kelsey Hutchins added 12 points.

Meadowcreek's Courtney Fields led all players in scoring with 22 points.

Mill Creek 56, Duluth 41

DULUTH -- Nadiya Miller of Mill Creek logged 18 points and four rebounds on Tuesday night as the Hawks topped Duluth 56-41 in a Region 7-AAAAAA game.

Meredith Schulte added 11 points and seven rebounds for Mill Creek (4-3, 2-1), while India Dillard finished with 11 rebounds and five points. Shannon McCrosson also chipped in with eight assists and seven rebounds.

Lanier 50, Walnut Grove 43

LOGANVILLE -- Lanier won its second straight game on Tuesday night with a 50-43 triumph over Walnut Grove.

Shelby Threlkeld scored 22 points for Lanier (2-3), while adding eight steals and seven rebounds. Taylor-Rose Gibson-Green also played well with 14 rebounds and eight points.

Southwest Atlanta 53, Buford 52

ATLANTA -- Buford overcame a 16-point deficit to take a one-point lead with 30 seconds remaining but couldn't hold on as Southwest Atlanta Christian edged the Wolves 53-52 on Tuesday night.

Kaela Davis of Buford (1-1) led all players with 26 points. Camille Anderson also scored 13 points, while Marquita Daniels added 11 points. Alexis Carter led Southwest with 17 points.

Hebron 46, Mount Pisgah 36

JOHNS CREEK -- Amber Skidgel of Hebron tallied 20 points and eight rebounds on Tuesday night as the Lions upended Mount Pisgah 46-36.

Ashley Stanley also added 12 points as Hebron improved to 3-2.

WRESTLING

GAC tops Athens Christian

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian improved to 13-6 on Tuesday as the Spartans held off Athens Christian 38-30.

Scoring pinfalls for GAC were Liam Bassett at 113 pounds and Hunter Martin at 195.

Carter Clinebell (132) also added a win by technical fall, while Brandon Bradley (120), Joey Schrader (145) and Adam Nakada (170) each recorded key wins.
