The Wolves have quite a history with Holy Innocents', having played seven times since 2006, including twice in 2008. Wesleyan won three straight before falling last year.
"We're not unfamiliar with them," Wesleyan head coach Franklin Pridgen said of Holy Innocents', which is coached by Ryan Livezey, a Norcross grad. "We have a lot of respect for those guys."
Wesleyan prepped for the opener with a scrimmage against Pace Academy that produced a number of positives. One of the biggest came on the offensive front, where Hank Masters, Michael Armstrong and Ben Johnson led an impressive showing. David Monte also ran the ball well, while freshman cornerback Jordan Mack was a bright spot on defense.
Holy Innocents' lost a number of seniors off last year's squad, but opened its season off with a solid win over Lakeside last weekend.
"We have 30 kids (in grades) 10 to 12, so we're pretty similar to Holy Innocents' in numbers," Pridgen said. "That's different from a lot of teams on our schedule who will have a lot more (players) than us."
Because the Golden Bears don't have a home stadium, Friday's game is at Riverwood.
