Peachtree Ridge took one on the chin last week, losing to Camden County 42-0 in the Corky Kell Classic. The Lions have had to deal with that loss all week, but get a chance for a clean slate Friday at Parkview.
"As a program, we want to (play again)," Peachtree Ridge head coach Mark Fleetwood said. "You never like having that taste in your mouth."
The Lions couldn't do much right in last week's loss to Camden. The offense turned the ball over twice, special teams missed two field goals and the defense allowed 308 yards of offense.
"I know the scoreboard didn't show it, but if they get a break here or there it might be a little different," Parkview head coach Cecil Flowe said. "I think they are a very good football team. They shot themselves in the foot a few times. Camden just did everything right."
Parkview comes into Friday's opener with a chip on its shoulder as well. The Panthers missed the playoffs for the second time in three years after making the postseason 15 years in a row.
"They have always been a solid program over the years," Fleetwood said. "They are well coached and I'm impressed with what Cecil has done over there."
Parkview features one of the county's top running backs in Chris Carson, who rushed for 1,146 yards and 17 TDs last season.
"He's a good running back," Fleetwood said. "He knows how to carry the ball and make you miss."
