MARIETTA -- It took five games, but Greater Atlanta Christian finally outlasted Walker on Tuesday night, posting a 25-21, 14-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-11 win over the Wolverines.
Jennie McCarty led the attack for GAC (7-2) with 31 assists and 23 digs, while Madison Kerr added 21 digs and 18 kills. Emma Taylor and Tayler McPherson each helped with 10 kills, while Emily Becker recorded 42 digs.
GAC entered the match ranked No. 2 in Class AA, while Walker sported a No. 3 ranking in Class A.
Norcross beats Dunwoody
NORCROSS -- Kolby Meeks recorded 21 kills on Tuesday night as Norcross beat Dunwoody 25-12, 25-16, but fell to Alpharetta 26-28, 25-17, 12-25.
Syndey Marshall added 14 kills as Norcross moved its record to 14-3. Iana Dingle also tallied 13 digs, while Lousia Luranc had 10 digs.
Parkview sweeps Shiloh
LILBURN -- Parkview recorded a split on Tuesday night, starting its evening off with a 25-18, 25-11 sweep of Shiloh but ending it with a 17-25, 24-26 loss to Decatur.
Leading Parkview (4-6) was Justice Davis, who had 15 digs, four kills and one ace.
Shiloh (3-1) also salvaged a split, beating Decatur in three games 19-25, 26-24, 25-19. Leaders on the night for Shiloh were Gloria Watson (14 digs, 21 kills), Kyana Palmer (12, digs, 11 assists), Erika Lewis (48 digs), Jackie Harris (eight digs, 48 assists), Briana Stith (13 digs, six kills), Brainna Campbell (14 kills, six digs) and Kinshasa Bell (eight kills).
Mountain View wins two of three
DACULA -- Mountain View went 2-1 on Tuesday night, getting wins over Dacula and Central but falling to Johns Creek.
Mountain View (6-8) recorded sweeps of Dacula 25-6, 25-12 and Central 27-25, 25-18 but was swept by Johns Creek 25-3, 25-13.
Central (1-13) also lost to Dacula in three games and was swept by Johns Creek 25-6, 25-4.
ATHENS -- Hebron's Area 6-A schedule got under way on Tuesday night and the Lions split, beating Athens Academy 25-9, 25-17 but falling in two games to George Walton Academy 22-25, 21-25.
Leaders on the night for Hebron (12-6, 1-1) were Eden Murray with 15 kills and four blocks, Bridgette Oduro with eight kills and six aces and Anna Katherine Wilson with 32 assists.
Providence opens area schedule with two sweeps
BOGART -- Providence opened its Area 6-A schedule on Tuesday night with a pair of wins, getting sweeps over Prince Avenue 26-24, 25-13 and Athens Christian 25-16, 25-16.
Maddie Jones led the Storm with 18 kills, while Katie Scott dished out 22 assists. Carly Dubay also had a good night for Providence (13-2, 2-0) with 17 digs.
Grayson tops Duluth
DULUTH -- Grayson moved its record to 3-6 on Tuesday with a win and a loss as the Rams swept Duluth 26-24, 25-22 but was swept by Forsyth Central 23-25, 19-25.
Geordyn Jenkins led the Rams with 18 assists, while Kailyn Fuller added seven kills. The Rams also served well, getting seven aces from Abbie Johnson and five aces from Dkeama Alexis.
Peachtree Ridge 9, Wesleyan 6
SUWANEE -- Sam Pierannunzi was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs scored, while Maiah Johnson went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBIs as Peachtree Ridge downed Wesleyan 9-6 in a battle of state-ranked softball teams in different classifications Monday at Peachtree Ridge.
Kayla Jones was 1-for-3 with two RBIs, Leanne Davis was 2-for-3, with an RBI and Andie McGregor went 1-for-2 to back the pitching of Quinn Hill (5-2), who scattered seven hits and five earned runs with five strikeouts in getting the complete-game win for the Lions (11-2), ranked No. 9 in Class AAAAAA.
CaraMia Tsirigos was 2-for-3 with a solo home run, while Emily Farrow went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Lillie Baker went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for the Wolves (11-3), ranked No. 5 in Class AA.
Amanda DeLaPerriere took the loss for Wesleyan, giving up nine hits and six runs with four strikeouts over five innings.
Shiloh 15, Central 12
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Central Gwinnett (4-3) fell to the Shiloh Generals 15-12 on Monday despite a good night at the plate from Sydney Buchanan (2-for-5, double), Jazzmee Cooper (2-for-3, triple) and Ashley Davis (3-for-4).
Faith Dickerson (4-3) took the loss despite recording nine strikeouts in seven innings.
Decatur 6, Norcross 2
NORCROSS -- Norcross (4-5) fell to the visiting Decatur Bulldogs 6-2 on Monday despite a strong pitching outing from Vanessa Bradford.
The freshman gave up just four hits and six runs -- only one of which was earned -- and struck out eight over seven innings.
Mill Creek 5, Grayson 0
HOSCHTON -- Heather Felt (4-1) threw a complete-game shutout, giving up just five hits and striking out three, as the third-ranked Mill Creek Hawks beat the Grayson Rams 5-0 on Monday at Mill Creek.
Morgan Bell went 1-for-2, while McKenzie Fagioli finished 1-for-3, with a double and two RBIs for Mill Creek (7-1-1).
Archer 6, Winder-Barrow 3
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Tahra Johnson was 3-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs, while Alesha Mann went 2-for-3 with a double as Archer downed Winder-Barrow 6-3 at home on Monday.
Alliyah Williams (4-2) scattered six hits and three earned runs with a strikeout over six innings to get the win in the circle for No. 5 Archer (13-5).
Buford 12, West Hall 0, 5 innings
OAKWOOD -- The top-ranked Buford Wolves (10-0, 1-0) stayed undefeated on the season and won their initial Region 7-AAA game with a 12-0, run-rule road win over West Hall in five innings Monday.
Bria Bush (6-0) struck out six and allowed just one baserunner in two no-hit innings before giving way to freshman Peyton Wolfe, who gave up just one hit and struck out two in going the final three innings out of the bullpen.
Sydney Stavro was 1-for-4 with three RBIs and a stolen base, Remington Hasty blasted a two-run homer and finished with three RBIs for the game, Jazmin Hawkins went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a stolen base and Bush helped herself with a double and an RBI.
