PREP ROUNDUP: Peachtree Ridge tops Wesleyan in state-ranked softball showdown

SUWANEE -- Sam Pierannunzi was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs scored, while Maiah Johnson went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBIs as Peachtree Ridge downed Wesleyan in a battle of state-ranked softball teams in different classifications Monday at Peachtree Ridge.

Kayla Jones was 1-for-3 with two RBIs, Leanne Davis was 2-for-3, with an RBI and Andie McGregor went 1-for-2 to back the pitching of Quinn Hill (5-2), who scattered seven hits and five earned runs with five strikeouts in getting the complete-game win for the Lions (11-2), ranked No. 9 in Class AAAAAA.

CaraMia Tsirigos was 2-for-3 with a solo home run, while Emily Farrow went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Lillie Baker went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for the Wolves (11-3), ranked No. 5 in Class AA.

Amanda DeLaPerriere took the loss for Wesleyan, giving up nine hits and six runs with four strikeouts over five innings.

SOFTBALL

Shiloh 15, Central 12

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Central Gwinnett (4-3) fell to the Shiloh Generals 15-12 on Monday despite a good night at the plate from Sydney Buchanan (2-for-5, double), Jazzmee Cooper (2-for-3, triple) and Ashley Davis (3-for-4).

Faith Dickerson (4-3) took the loss despite recording nine strikeouts in seven innings.

Decatur 6, Norcross 2

NORCROSS -- Norcross (4-5) fell to the visiting Decatur Bulldogs 6-2 on Monday despite a strong pitching outing from Vanessa Bradford.

The freshman gave up just four hits and six runs -- only one of which was earned -- and struck out eight over seven innings.

Mill Creek 5, Grayson 0

HOSCHTON -- Heather Felt (4-1) threw a complete-game shutout, giving up just five hits and striking out three, as the third-ranked Mill Creek Hawks beat the Grayson Rams 5-0 on Monday at Mill Creek.

Morgan Bell went 1-for-2, while McKenzie Fagioli finished 1-for-3, with a double and two RBIs for Mill Creek (7-1-1).

Archer 6, Winder-Barrow 3

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Tahra Johnson was 3-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs, while Alesha Mann went 2-for-3 with a double as Archer downed Winder-Barrow 6-3 at home on Monday.

Alliyah Williams (4-2) scattered six hits and three earned runs with a strikeout over six innings to get the win in the circle for No. 5 Archer (13-5).

Buford 12, West Hall 0, 5 innings

OAKWOOD -- The top-ranked Buford Wolves (10-0, 1-0) stayed undefeated on the season and won their initial Region 7-AAA game with a 12-0, run-rule road win over West Hall in five innings Monday.

Bria Bush (6-0) struck out six and allowed just one baserunner in two no-hit innings before giving way to freshman Peyton Wolfe, who gave up just one hit and struck out two in going the final three innings out of the bullpen.

Sydney Stavro was 1-for-4 with three RBIs and a stolen base, Remington Hasty blasted a two-run homer and finished with three RBIs for the game, Jazmin Hawkins went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a stolen base and Bush helped herself with a double and an RBI.
