SNELLVILLE -- Some of the smallest things in life can make the biggest impact, even around the world.
The Little Gym of Snellville has joined forces with Soles4Souls, an international charity that collects shoes and distributes them to people in need around the globe, to gather 1 million used or outgrown pairs of shoes by the end of the gym's 2013 season.
"The 'Big Hearts, Little Shoes' program is a natural fit with what we do at The Little Gym," said Paul Mazurkiewicz, the gym's owner. "While gymnastics and physical skills form the basis of our classes, our curriculum provides for a well-rounded experience for children. 'Big Hearts, Little Shoes' is a perfect complement to our 'Citizen Kid' focus on life skills that help children grow into well-rounded citizens of the world."
During the 2012-13 season of classes, parents may donate shoes to the Soles4Souls drop boxes located in the lobby. The shoes will be shipped off to the international charity, which will distribute the shoes to people living in extreme poverty or recovering from a natural disaster.
"The program provides an interactive way for children to learn the value of charity and for parents and children to participate in a cause together," said a release from The Little Gym of Snellville.
The Little Gym of Snellville is an experiential learning and child physical development center for children between the ages of 4 months through 12 years old.
