PREP ROUNDUP: Bulldogs roll to Forsyth Challenge tournament title

CUMMING -- North won six volleyball matches to claim the Forsyth Challenge tournament title on Saturday.

The Bulldogs beat North Murray, Pinecrest, North Hall and North Forsyth in two sets to reach the semifinals. They topped North Cobb in the semifinals before taking down Sandy Creek in the finals for the championship.

Kristina Stinson led North (11-2) with 43 kills and 16 aces. Miller Howard and Carson Nevels each had 32 kills, and Matia Hughes had 82 assists on the day.

VOLLEYBALL

GAC goes 2-2 at Top 10 Play Day

SUWANEE -- GAC dropped matches to Eagles Landing Christian Academy and Westminster but beat Cambridge and Lovett for a 2-2 day at Suwanee Sports Academy on Saturday.

Tayler McPherson had 25 kills, Emma Taylor had 18 kills and 42 digs, and Madison Kerr had 15 kills for the Spartans. Emily Becker contributed 44 digs, and Jennie McCarty added 54 assists.

Norcross takes silver division at Forsyth Challenge

CUMMING -- The Blue Devils won the Forsyth Challenge silver division Saturday with wins over West Forsyth and Fellowship Christian after a loss to North Cobb in pool play.

Norcross (13-2) was led by Sydney Marshall with 22 kills and 15 digs and Javonne Stanfield with 14 kills and six blocks. Shelby King added 11 kills, and Sammie Baker recorded 56 assists.

Hebron wins three, loses one at Top 10 Play Day

SUWANEE -- Hebron (11-5) beat Holy Innocents', Savannah Country Day and Atlanta International School but lost to Lovett on Saturday at the Top 10 Play Day at Suwanee Sports Academy.

Eden Murray led the Lions with 42 kills, six blocks and seven aces. Alli Johnson had 13 kills, Bridgette Oduro had seven kills, and Anna Katherine Wilson had six aces and 69 assists.

Providence goes 3-1 at Bash

SNELLVILLE -- Providence beat Sprayberry, Mountain View and Archer after a loss to Mill Creek on Saturday at the Brookwood Aloha Bash.

Maddie Jones led the Storm (11-2) on the day with 29 kills. Kat Knosher had 25 assists and Carly Dubay had 28 digs.

Grayson goes 3-2 at play day

JEFFERSON -- Grayson (2-5) got wins over Talullah Falls and East Jackson but dropped matches with Athens Christian, Jefferson and Apalachee on Saturday.

SOFTBALL

Wesleyan 4, Alpharetta 3

NORCROSS -- CaraMia Tsirigos drove in Victoria DiStasi for the game-winning run on a double in the 8th inning Saturday for Wesleyan in a 4-3 victory over Alpharetta.

Amanda DeLaPerriere got the win for the Wolves (11-2), giving up three hits and striking out five in five innings.

Landyn Duley tied the game on a run-scoring triple and also scored a run. Lillie Baker was 2-for-2 with a double and a run, and Sydney Stone got a pinch-hit single and scored the game-tying run. DiStasi also drove in a run.

Buford wins pair

DAHLONEGA -- Buford (9-0) topped Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 9-1 after downing North Forsyth 4-2 on Saturday at North Georgia College.

Bekah Rude picked up the win against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe. She pitched four innings, gave up six hits, struck out one, walked two and allowed one earned run.

Alexis Baldy went 2-for-3 in the game with an inside-the-park home run. Niki Cook was 2-for-4 with a run, Jazmin Hawkins was 1-for-3 with an RBI, run and stolen base, and Remington Hasty went 1-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs.

Bria Bush improved to 5-0 with her win against North Forsyth. She pitched a complete game, gave up five hits, struck out eight, walked three and allowed one earned run.

Hawkins went 2-for-3 against the Raiders with a triple and two runs. Cook was 2-for-4 with a run and stolen base. Sydney Stavro added two hits and a stolen base, and Bush and Drew Puckett drove in a run apiece.

Archer gets three wins at Bash

WOODSTOCK -- The Tigers (12-5) went 3-0 Saturday at the Buccaneer Bash, beating Etowah 7-4, Fannin County 3-1 and South Paulding 6-1.

Nani Cabrales picked up the win against Etowah to improve to 6-2. She pitched seven innings, giving up three earned runs, one unearned run and eight hits while striking out four.

Cabrales also led the offense with a 3-for-4 outing. Alesha Mann and Alliyah Williams were both 2-for-3 with a double and RBI, and Jenna Graham and Sydney Willhite were both 1-for-3 with a double and RBI.

Williams got the win against Fannin County with one earned run, seven hits and a strikeout in seven innings. She was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI against Fannin County.

Katie Etheridge went 2-for-2 with an RBI in the game.

Williams also won against South Paulding to up her record to 3-2. She pitched seven innings, giving up a run and four hits while striking out three. Williams added two hits at the plate.

Kristin Hawkin went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs. Aleah Marijanich was 1-for-3 with a double and RBI, and Brittany Marasette was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Collins Hill 2, Walnut Grove 1

DAHLONEGA -- Aeshia Miles drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly and picked up the win for Collins Hill (8-1) in a 2-1 victory over Walnut Grove on Saturday.

Miles gave up one unearned run, two hits, two walks and hit a batter while striking out four.

Payton Wilson was 1-for-3 with a double, Brea Dickey was 2-for-3 with a triple, Laine Simmons was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Keri Barriencos went 1-for-2 for the Eagles.
