AUGUSTA (AP) -- The Virginia university founded by television preacher Pat Robertson is suing a new Georgia university, saying its new name is too similar and will create confusion.
The private Regent University announced Wednesday it is filing the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Augusta. The school, based in Virginia Beach, Va., was founded in 1978 by Robertson.
Earlier this month, Georgia's Board of Regents chose the name Georgia Regents University for the school created by the merger of Augusta State University and Georgia Health Sciences University.
Almost immediately, the name choice drew controversy in the Augusta area where many residents wanted "Augusta" to be part of the name.
Regent University President Carlos Campo said his school believes the name infringes on its federally registered trademark.

Virginia, just another Liberal state. Sue everybody for anything. Like you have a right to a word. We could care less who founded your university!
