Body found in Peachtree Corners ID'd, cause of death pending

PEACHTREE CORNERS -- The body found last week behind a Peachtree Corners business has been identified, but the cause of death remains undetermined pending toxicology results.

The deceased man, found at about 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 13, has been identified as 39-year-old Ronald Corona, "who is originally from Pennsylvania and has been temporarily living in the Gwinnett area since November 2011," Gwinnett County police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter said Thursday. Corona had previously been identified only through a pair of distinct tattoos on his body.

While he has been identified, an official cause of death has not been determined, police said. That said, the medical examiner has determined that "there were no signs of trauma on his body that were fatal," Ritter said.

Toxicology results are still pending. Ted Bailey, chief forensic investigator for the Gwinnett County medical examiner's office, said those results could take 10 to 12 weeks to be returned.

Corona was found behind a business at 25 Technology Parkway in Peachtree Corners on Aug. 13 when a cleaning company employee noticed him lying against a back door. According to an incident report, Corona was lying face down in front of the door with "a pool of blood coming from the head."
