LOGANVILLE -- Shiloh opened its season with two wins on Tuesday night, sweeping host Grayson 25-22, 25-17 and Loganville 26-24, 25-13.
Gloria Watson had 14 kills in the match against Grayson, while Jackie Harris had 11 digs. Brianna Stith also played well with 10 digs and two blocks, while Kinsasha Bell had five blocks.
Watson added 17 more kills in the Loganville match, getting help from Brianna Campbell with 19 digs and 15 kills. Bell also finished with three more blocks, while Erika Lewis recorded 21 digs.
Norcross sweeps Dacula and South
NORCROSS -- Norcross upped its record to 9-1 on Tuesday night by sweeping Dacula 25-8, 25-10 and South 25-11, 25-13.
Sydney Marshall led the attack for Norcross in kills with 16, while Kolby Meeks added 14 kills. Sarah Ann Gratwick paced the offense with 16 assists, while Javonne Stanfiled finished with 11 kills and three blocks.
Collins Hill splits
SUWANEE -- Collins Hill moved its record to 2-3 on Tuesday with one win and one loss, beating Mountain View in two games 25-20, 25-20, but falling to Centennial in three games 25-23, 19-25, 24-26.
Sam Rivera led the Eagles with 13 kills, eight digs, seven aces and five blocks, while Jennifer Ahlswede added 31 assists, 13 digs and four aces. Other contributors were Courtney Oster (18 digs, 10 kills), Jesse Price (four kills), Taylor Vold (three blocks), Haley Cook (six aces) and Ariana McDaniels (10 digs).
Central tops Berkmar
SUGAR HILL -- Central Gwinnett defeated Berkmar on Tuesday night, sweeping the Patriots 25-18, 25-16 at Lanier High School.
Teryn Simmons had four kills in the Berkmar match for Central (1-3), while Lexus Travis had three kills. Breale Howard dished four assists and Keisha Washington tallied four digs and two aces.
Central ended its night with a 25-9, 25-18 loss to Lanier. Travis had six more digs, while Zainab Jaleiba finished with four digs.
Lanier's night ended in a sweep as the Longhorns topped Berkmar (0-2) in two games 25-5, 25-20.
Duluth drops a pair
DULUTH -- Duluth topped 20 points in three of its four games on Tuesday night, but couldn't muster a win as the Wildcats fell to Archer 25-18, 25-23 and North Forsyth 25-22, 25-22.
Duluth dropped to 0-6.
Parkview defeats Sprayberry
DECATUR -- Parkview recorded a 25-14, 25-15 sweep of Sprayberry on Tuesday night for its first win of 2012, but finished with a split as the Panthers fell in three games to Decatur 14-25, 25-19, 25-20.
Leaders for the Panthers (1-2) were Riley Weyher with 17 digs, 13 kills and six aces, Ally Peatroff with 10 kills, seven digs and four aces and Justice Davis with 13 digs, five kills and three aces.
Hebron gets two wins
KENNESAW -- Eden Murray of Hebron recorded 26 kills on Tuesday night to help the Lions to a pair of wins, topping Mount Paran 25-15, 25-19 and Our Lady of Mercy 25-16, 25-14.
Bridgette Oduro followed with 12 kills, while Anna Katherine Wilson finished with 48 assists and six aces. Hebron improved to 6-4.
Archer 7, Dacula 1
DACULA -- Archer opened its Region 8-AAAAAA schedule with a 7-1 win over Dacula on Tuesday night. Nani Cabrales (4-1) pitched a complete game for the win, giving up one earned run on three hits with nine strikeouts.
Kristin Hawkins led the offense for Archer (8-3, 1-0), going 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Jenna Graham added three hits and an RBI, while Alliyah Williams was 2-for-4 with three runs.
South 6, Shiloh 1
SNELLVILLE -- South Gwinnett defeated Shiloh 6-1 on Tuesday night in a Region 8-AAAAAA game.
Shiloh (2-6, 0-1) collected five hits, two of them by Areca Benderr. Cortni Jones also added a double, while Clinequa Spear drove in the Generals' lone run.
Adia Randall was charged with the loss, surrendering six runs (three earned) on 10 hits.
Kennesaw Mountain 5, Collins Hill 0
KENNESAW -- Collins Hill suffered its first setback of the season as Kennesaw Mountain blanked the Eagles 5-0 on Tuesday night at Kennesaw State University.
Amanda Chance was charged with the loss, giving up three runs in three innings on three hits with one walk and one strikeout. Aeshia Miles followed in relief and surrendered two more runs on three hits with trwo strikeouts.
Danielle Patterson went 2-for-3 for Collins Hill (7-1), while Reagan Morgan went 1-for-3 with a stolen base. Calli Star also had a hit for the Eagles.
North 12, Oconee Co. 2
SUWANEE -- Kendall McKinney went 2-for-2 with a home run and four RBIs on Tuesday night to propel North Gwinnett to a 12-2 win over Oconee County in six innings.
Alaina Hall added to the offense for North (5-1-1) with two hits, two RBIs and two runs, while Hannah Harrison recorded the win on the mound.
Mill Creek 3, Hillgrove 1
KENNESAW -- Mill Creek pushed across three runs in the top of the seventh to come away with a 3-1 win over Hillgrove on Tuesday night at Kennesaw State University.
Lauren Bennett opened the seventh with a walk and eventually scored on a hit by Mackenzie Fagioli.
Mill Creek (5-1-1) managed just two hits, with the other coming from Morgan Bell.
Heather Felt (3-1) pitched a complete game in recording the win, giving up one earned run on two hits and four walks with four strikeouts.
Lanier 8, Monroe Area 5
SUGAR HILL -- Keisha Stone went 2-for-4 with three RBIs on Tuesday night in Lanier's 8-5 win over Monroe Area in Region 8-AAAA action.
Stone also pitched seven innings to pick up her fourth win, while Hannah Coursey helped by going 2-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run.
Noelle Petty and Heather Kellett each went 2-for-3 for Lanier (7-6-1, 1-0).
Providence 6, Hebron 0
DACULA -- Providence notched its first win of the season on Tuesday night with a 6-0 shutout of Hebron in a Region 8-A game.
Abigail Roberson pitched seven innings in the shutout, striking out three with six hits, while MacKenzie Tuttle was the leading hitter with a triple, home run and three RBIs.
Amber Roberts also had two hits and an RBI, while Katy Barry finished 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs. Brittany Tuttle also helped, stealing three bases and scoring twice for the Storm (1-8, 1-1).
