LILBURN — Amanda Chambers threw five strong innings and contributed at the plate as Parkview downed Norcross 9-2 in a home game Monday.
Chambers (4-0) gave up just one hit and one unearned run with six strikeouts in the pitcher's circle and went 3-for-4 with two RBIs at the plate as Parkview improved to 4-0 on the young season.
Also with a big day at the plate for Parkview were Eryn Stepp, who was 2-for-3 and drove in two runs, Ally Claytor, who was 2-for-3, and Taylor Muirhead, who was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
SOFTBALL
Archer 8, Apalachee 0
LAWRENCEVILLE — Abby Lyall's pitching and Nani Cabrales' hitting powered Archer to an 8-0 win in six innings over Apalachee on Monday.
Lyall, who also went 2-for-4 at the plate, gave up just two hits in her six innings. She is now 3-0 on the season.
Cabrales was 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored for the Tigers (7-3), who also got good games from Alesha Mann (2-for-3, two RBIs) and Brittney Marasette (2-for-4, RBI).
Mountain View 3, Lanier 2
LAWRENCEVILLE — Mountain View defeated Lanier 3-2 in softball on Monday.
Lanier was led by Holland Coursey (2-for-3), Hannah Coursey (double, two RBIs) and Heather Kellett (2-for-3).
Buford 8, Jefferson 0
BUFORD — Buford softball won its home opener Monday, defeating Jefferson 8-0.
Bria Bush (4-0) was the winning pitcher, finishing a scoreless six innings with just one hit allowed. She struck out four and walked one.
Drew Puckett was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run to power the Wolves (7-0) on offense. Niki Cook (2-for-3, two runs, RBI, two stolen bases) and Baylee Sexton (2-for-3, run, RBI) also played well for the victors.
Wesleyan 7, Blessed Trinity 3
NORCROSS — Dacia Jones pitched five innings of no-hit softball and earned the victory Monday as Wesleyan beat Blessed Trinity 7-3.
The Wolves (9-2) also got two hits each from Emily Farrow (2-for-3, three RBIs), Riley Henning (2-for-2, run) and CaraMia Tsirigos (2-for-3, two doubles, run, walk).
