GURABO, Puerto Rico — The USA Basketball Women's U18 National Team, which includes North Gwinnett senior Lexie Brown, won the FIBA Americas U18 Championship on Sunday with a 71-47 win over Brazil in the finals.
The Americans, 43-2 all-time in the U18 showcase, won their sixth straight gold medal in the event and rallied from an 11-point deficit early in the second quarter.
Tournament MVP Breanna Stewart (North Syracuse, N.Y.) had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the U.S. and Morgan Tuck (Bolinbrook, Ill.) had 15 points and 11 boards.
Brown, entering the game as a reserve, had seven points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals in 24 minutes.
