BUFORD -- Rangers suspended a search Saturday for a man missing on Lake Lanier and will continue the efforts on Sunday.
Georgia Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman Robin Hill said a 44-year-old man went missing from a sailboat off of the Legacy Lodge in Hall County.
Reports say Jeffrey Nause jumped overboard and plunged into the lake early Saturday, about 30 minutes after midnight.
While using a side-scan sonar to map the bottom of the lake, dive teams from Hall County's fire and sheriffs offices as well as from Forsyth County searched for the man for hours. But by 4 p.m., the search was suspended due to heavy boat traffic, Hill said.
Georgia Department of Resources Sgt. Mike Burgamy says Nause was on the sailboat with a woman and another couple before he vanished beneath the water. He says Nause may have been drinking.
The search was expected to resume Sunday morning.
Hill said she did not know if alcohol was involved in the incident.
