NORCROSS -- To honor and remember the victims of Sept. 11, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has launched its second annual "Muslims for Life" campaign, a nationwide movement to collect 11,000 units of blood to reiterate the message that Islam values the sanctity of life.
Today, people are invited to donate blood in Lucky Shoals Park located at 4651 Britt Road in Norcross. The blood drive is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The next event in Gwinnett is Sept. 1 to 3 at the Mall of Georgia, 3333 Buford Drive in Buford from noon to 5 p.m., and then Sept. 1 and 2 at Discover Mills Mall, 5900 Sugarloaf Parkway in Lawrenceville from 1 to 6 p.m.
If you can't make those dates, anyone can visit a Georgia Red Cross Blood Donation Center anytime between today and Sept. 11. When at the center, use the code "M4LIFE" to give credit to the "Muslims for Life" campaign.
Last year, the group was able to collect 11,803 pints of blood, exceeding its goal of 10,000 pints. For more information about the campaign and mission, visit muslimsforlife.org.
