Lawrenceville looks for volunteers for fall festival

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Summer hasn't quite ended, but some fall festivals are ready to kick off, including the city of Lawrenceville's fourth annual Fair on the Square festival on Sept. 8 on the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse lawn.

From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., attendees can browse through vendor booths, eat festival food, watch live music and entertainment, plus let children burn off energy in the kid zone.

At 11:15 a.m. Mayor Judy Johnson will open the event by welcoming the attendees and giving a short history about the courthouse. Afterward, local artists will perform on the main stage, including Charlie & The Fox Trots, Lupita Sosa's Mexican Dances, David Leon, a tae kwon do demonstration by the Tiger Martial Arts Center and more.

Since the event is three weeks away, the organizers are looking for volunteers to help during the festival. Volunteers would need to commit to two hours of help, then receive a complimentary T-shirt as a "thank you."

Admission is free for all attendees. The Gwinnett Historic Courthouse is located at 185 Crogan St. in Lawrenceville.
