ATLANTA (AP) -- Police are investigating the slaying of a convenience store employee in Atlanta.
Sgt. Robert Porter says that officers found the employee with a gunshot wound to the chest and barely conscious in the store parking lot around 10 p.m. Thursday. The worker was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and later pronounced dead.
Authorities say homicide detectives are trying to determine whether the employee was trying to fend off robbers with a baseball bat when he was killed. The bat was found near the victim's body.
