PREP ROUNDUP: Sonnon's homer leads North past Brookwood 5-4

SUWANEE -- Draven Sonnon's home run in the bottom of the sixth propelled North Gwinnett past Brookwood 5-4 in the Hawk/Bulldog Tournament on Thursday.

Kinsley Jennings got her first win of the seasonfor North (1-0-1). Mallory Koeke and Ashley Stephen contributed two hits apiece for the Bulldogs.

SOFTBALL

Shiloh 16, Central 12

SNELLVILLE -- Adia Randall went seven innings and got the victory for Shiloh in a 16-12 win Thursday over Central.

Randall gave up five earned runs and struck out five in the win for the Generals (2-5). She was helped at the plate by Clinequa Spear's four hits and three hits apiece from Courtney Jones, Aaliyah Woods and Areca Bender.

Faith Dickerson struck out nine, while picking up the loss for Central (2-2). Dickerson was 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and two RBIs.

Jazznee Cooper and Jackie Finnegan went 3-for-5 for Central. Cooper drove in three, and Finnegan scored three runs.

Peachtree Ridge 10, Providence 4

HOSCHTON -- Peachtree Ridge bettered its record to 7-0 with a 10-4 win over Providence at West Jackson Park on Thursday.

Sarah Walker got the win for the Lions, pitching three innings and striking out three.

Maiah Johnson (1-for-3, two RBIs), Quinn Hill (1-for-1, two RBIs) and Leanne Davis (2-for-4) led the offense for the Lions.

Brittany Tuttle went 1-for-3 for the Storm (0-4) with two runs scored. Aubrey Gold was 1-for-2 with a run, and Megan Broom went 1-for-1.

Norcross 20, Centennial 2

NORCROSS -- The Blue Devils' offense came alive Thursday in a 20-2 win over Centennial.

Kelly Schmidt got the win in the circle for Norcross (3-1). She also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run and four RBIs.

Courtney Corbin added some pop at the plate, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs.

Mill Creek 10, Jackson Co. 10

HOSCHTON -- An offensive battle between Mill Creek and Jackson County ended up in a 10-10 tie Thursday.

Taylor Rogers and Lauren Bennett led the Hawks (1-0-1) with four hits each. Rogers scored two runs, and Bennett drove in a run.

Healther Felt went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Morgan Bell was 2-for-3 with a homer and four RBIs, and Sarah Peery was 2-for-3 with a run driven in for Mill Creek.

Parkview 2, Flowery Branch 1

LILBURN -- Amanda Chambers improved to 2-0 in the circle in Parkview's 2-1 win over Flowery Branch on Thursday.

Chambers pitched seven innings for the Panthers (2-0) and struck out four.

Patty Dennison led the Parkview offense, going 2-for-2 with an RBI. Morgan Robinson went 1-for-3 with an RBI, and Taylor Muirhead went 1-for-1 and stole a base.

VOLLEYBALL

Brookwood sweeps rival Parkview

SNELLVILLE -- The Broncos improved to 3-2with a 25-15, 25-12, 25-23 win over Parkview on Thursday.

Maggie Collins led Brookwood with 10 kills and three blocks, while Leslie Stinnett added seven kills. Hannah Kitchen recorded 28 assists for the Broncos.

Ally Peatross contributed 4 blocks for the Panthers. Cori Harber had 16 assists and seven digs, while Justice Davis added 20 digs and seven kills.

Westminster wins all three against Collins Hill

ATLANTA -- Collins Hill fell to 1-2 after a three-game sweep at the hands of Westminster 25-12, 25-19, 25-9.

Samantha Rivera had six kills, Taylor Vold had 11 kills and Imani Walker had three kills for the Eagles. Courtney Oster added 16 assists and 10 digs, and Jennifer Ahslwede had four digs for Collins Hill.

Norcross gets wins over Mountain View, North Forsyth

LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Blue Devils won a pair of matches Thursday, defeating Mountain View 25-15, 25-17 and North Forsyth 25-21, 16-25, 25-15.

Sydney Marshall led the way for Norcross (4-0) with 20 kills and 13 digs. Javonne Stanfield added 10 kills and eight blocks, Sarah Ann Gratwick recorded 19 assists, and Sammie Baker had 13 assists on the day.

GAC scores victories against Dunwoody, Druid Hills

DUNWOODY -- GAC rolled to a pair of wins Thursday against Dunwoody 25-11, 25-13 and Druid Hills 25-14, 25-9.

The Spartans (4-0) were led by Tayler McPherson (13 kills), Emma Taylor (11 kills) and Madison Kerr (11 kills). Emily Becker added 12 digs, and Jennie McCarty had 31 assists and eight aces for GAC.

Providence gets win over Yeshiva

ATLANTA -- The Storm handled Yeshiva easily with a 25-10, 25-11, 25-6 win on Thursday.

Erin Yost had 13 kills and Emily Walls had 11 kills and seven aces for Providence (3-0). Kat Knosher contributed 14 assists.

Hebron falls to George Walton, tops Dacula

DACULA -- The Lions fell to George Walton Academy 22-25, 25-14, 25-11 before getting a win over Dacula 25-8, 25-11 on Thursday.

Eden Murray led Hebron with 24 kills in the matches. Bridgette Oduro and Ashleigh Thomas recorded six kills apiece, and Anna Katherine Wilson added 45 assists for Hebron.

Buford beaten by South Forsyth, Woodstock

CUMMING -- The Wolves fell to 0-4 Thursday after a 22-25, 25-16, 25-17 loss to South Forsyth and 22-25, 25-16, 25-14 to Woodstock.

Maggie Roper led Buford in the South Forsyth contest with seven kills, eight digs and five aces. Kat Tatum had seven kills, Tori Payton recorded 17 assists and Mikhayla Riedel had 14 digs.

In the Woodstock match, Roper led again with 10 kills and 14 digs for the Wolves. Tatum added six kills and three blocks, while Payton had 15 assists and six digs.

Meadowcreek tops Lanier, falls to Forsyth Central

SUGAR HILL -- The Mustangs began the season with a match split, defeating Lanier 25-20, 14-25, 25-20 and losing to Forsyth Central 25-13, 25-11 on Thursday.

Chari Mayes and Angel Alexander were key players on the court for Meadowcreek.

Central drops doubleheader against Winder-Barrow, South

SNELLVILLE -- Central (0-2) lost its first matches of the season Thursday, falling to Winder-Barrow 25-18, 25-17 and South 25-18, 25-16.
