SNELLVILLE — Snellville officials have hired a new city manager to take the city helm.
Mayor Kelly Kautz announed the appointment of James C. (Butch) Sanders Thursday, a day after the city council voted after meeting in executive session.
“Mr. Sanders has a wealth of experience, he comes from Henry County so he is ‘local’ and he is a fellow UGA double dog,” Kautz said adding that council members interviewed Sanders last month and he also met with city staff. “I am pleased to say that the selection of Mr. Sanders as our city manager was unanimous with council, staff and me. We all look forward to having a great working relationship and to what the future holds for Snellville.”
Slated to start on Monday, Sanders replaces Russell Treadway, who left the city earlier this year to return to his Tennessee home. Police Chief Roy Whitehead has served as interim city manager since May.
Sanders, who has 25 years of experience in municipal work, resigned in February as Henry County’s manager. He has also worked for the city of McDonough and spent nearly 20 years with the city of Dalton.
The Florida native received a bachelor’s degree and master’s of public administration from the University of Georgia.
He and his wife Jennifer have two children.
Terms of Sander’s contract have not been set.

Yes because hiring someone from Henry County, where they are in such financial straights and can't manage their own finical problems, is such a great idea for Snellville because they can't manage THEIR own finical problems......Bravo Snellville, Bravo...

Besides money issues Snellville needs a tough police department to crack down on the growing crime problem.
