WARNER ROBINS (AP) -- A central Georgia police department is hoping a new camera attached to its police dog will allow them to see crime from the animal's vantage point.
Warner Robins police say the K-9 mounted video camera is mounted on a vest the dog wears. It is positioned to shoot video from between the dog's ears.
Police say that the $8,000 camera can make police work safer for officers.
Police spokeswoman Tabitha Pugh says the dog can be sent into a building, allowing officers outside to see how many suspects are inside and whether they are armed.
Pugh says the dog's handler wears a mobile viewing screen that attaches to his wrist for real-time viewing.
The police dog Ego was fitted with the camera Tuesday.
