Blue Like Jazz Blu-ray (PG-13)
Movie: 4 out of 4 stars
Disc: 4 out of 4 stars
Easily the best "non-believer" friendly title that falls squarely into the Christian sub-genre, "Blue Like Jazz" is also that rare movie that isn't at all preachy and doesn't wear its religious beliefs on its sleeve. Certain to upset some of the more traditional and uptight churchgoers, the movie is rooted in the real world (drug use, same sex romance, self-doubt) while poking fun at itself. It realizes that humor is a far better communication device than somber drama and most important -- it never treats non-Christians as heathens. Take away the religious dogma (which is actually low) and you're still left with a great "Animal House" grade college comedy.
