GAB: Care for Cops benefit raises $20k

DULUTH -- The Care for Cops annual Charity Golf Classic recently raised more than $20,000 for the organization, which aims to help Georgia Law Enforcement families in times of need.

Until 2006, a motorcycle ride was the primary fundraiser. Since then, the Care for Cops annual Charity Golf Classic has been held each year to raise awareness and sponsorship for the group.

According to a news release from Care for Cops, the efforts have been effective in promoting the mission and bringing in support for fallen officers. This year, the golf tournament was held on July 23 at TPC Sugarloaf.

The organization has plans for a first-ever Care for Cops 5K run on Nov. 3. "With further support," the release states, "Care for Cops will continues its mission of acknowledging the ultimate sacrifice of the state of Georgia's law enforcement officers."
