ATLANTA — Atlanta police say two motorists have died after a head-on collision involving a driver they say was headed the wrong way on Georgia 400.
Police said in a statement that a preliminary investigation found that a driver entered the freeway from Lennox Road and headed southbound in the northbound lanes around 4 a.m. Wednesday.
Police say the driver collided head-on with another vehicle that was traveling north on Georgia 400.
Authorities say the motorist who was heading north died at the scene. The driver heading south was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and later died.
Police say a passenger in the vehicle that was headed the wrong way is listed in critical condition with severe injuries.
Names of the motorists involved were not immediately released.
