Norcross senior Diamond DeShields was named tournament MVP as the USA Basketball Under-17 Women's World Championship Team won the Italy Under-17 Invitational this past weekend.
DeShields had eight points and seven rebounds in the Americans' final tourney game, an 86-60 win over host Italy. She had a game-high 27 points (on 12 of 15 shooting), five steals, three assists and two blocks in the previous U.S. game, a rout of Australia.
