NORFOLK, Va. -- The Gwinnett Braves scored two runs in the first inning and held that lead for the duration in a 3-1 road victory over Norfolk on Tuesday.
Jose Constanza led off with a sharp line drive to right. He advanced to second on a bunt by Luis Durango and moved to third on a wild pitch by Jason Berken.
Stephan Gartrell walked and a single from Josh Kroeger scored Constanza for the 1-0 lead.
Ruben Gotay walked to load the bases with two away.
Jose Yepez hit a groundball to right and brought Gartrell home before Josh Wilson was called out on strikes to end the threat.
Norfolk cut the lead to 2-1 with a run in the second, but Gwinnett got it back in the fourth and didn't let it go.
