The event will help people who have physical, visual, auditory, or cognitive disabilities prepare for natural disasters and their consequences. The event is called "Get Ready Gwinnett."
"The American Red Cross and local government agencies will respond when a disaster threatens and after a disaster strikes. However, they can't be everywhere at once," Keith Fenton, Annandale Village's Chief Development Officer said in a press release.Suwanee Day Classic expandsThe Suwanee Day Classic event will include more than the traditional 5K and 10K runs this year. Participants in the Sept. 8 event may also take part in a non-competitive 25-mile bike ride and 1K kids' fun run. To register, visit active.com or suwaneeday.com. Participants are encouraged to register by Sept. 1. An additional $10 per event will be charged for entries received after Sept. 1. The bike ride begins at 7 a.m. and is $25 to enter, the 5K is at 8 a.m. and is $25, the 10K begins at 9 a.m. and is $30. And the 1K fun run begins at 9:05 a.m. and is $25. A combination of 5K/10K or bike ride/10K is $40.
