ROSWELL -- Freshman Vanessa Bradford had a short but perfect outing in her first prep softball game Friday.
Bradford stuck out seven of the nine batters she faced and induced two groundouts for three perfect innings in Norcross' 20-0, three-inning drubbing of Centennial.
She was also 3-for-4 with a home run in the win. Fellow freshman Kelly Schmidt went yard, too.
GAC 9, Shiloh 5
NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian's Courtney Czentnar hit two homers and had five RBIs in a 9-5 victory over Shiloh on Friday. Mary Johnson had two hits and Jada Lake was the winning pitcher. Lake allowed just two hits and struck out four for the Spartans (1-0).
Wesleyan 8, Dawson Co. 4
GAINESVILLE -- Amanda DeLaPerriere got the win on the mound and did some damage at the plate as Wesleyan beat Dawson County 8-4 on Friday at the Lanier Point Park tournament.
DeLaPerriere was 1-for-1 with two RBIs, a walk and a run scored for the Wolves (1-0).
Lillie Baker was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and two runs. Riley Henning was 1-for-1 with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI. Landyn Duley was 1-for-3 with a run, a stolen base and two RBIs.
Mt. View takes two in tourney
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Mountain View beat Lambert 2-1 in its season opener and followed that up with a 13-5 win over Rockdale on Friday in the South Gwinnett Diamond Classic.
Hannah Seagriss was the winning pitcher in both games. She held Lambert to one earned run and three hits with three strikeouts. In that same game, Lindsey Baxter batted in both runs.
Against Rockdale, Courtney Kichefski was 1-for-3 with two RBIs, while Taylor Miller went 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Kara Adams was 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI for the Bears (2-0).
North Oconee 7, Providence 1
LILBURN -- Providence Christian dropped its season opener to North Oconee 7-1 on Friday.
Jessie Kowalewicz was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Amber Roberts went 1-for-2 with a walk, while Brittany Tuttle had a walk, a stolen base and a run scored. Abigail Roberson went the distance and struck out six in the loss.
Lions start season strong
SUWANEE -- Peachtree Ridge beat South Forsyth 7-6 and Salem 20-3 on Friday.
Sarah Walker got the win against South Forsyth and was 1-for-3 with three RBIs and three stolen bases against Salem. Sam Pierannunzi was 2-for-3 with five runs and six stolen bases, while freshman Savanna Turvy was 5-for-7 with five RBIs in the doubleheader. Quinn Hill earned the win in the second game, striking out 10 in four innings.
