Patricia Ann Hulsey Kelly passed away August 1, 2012 at her home in Norcross. She was born in the Blue Creek Community of White County on January 9, 1942, the daughter of Jasper Barney and Sara Gunter Hulsey. She is survived by her son David Jonathan Kelly, granddaughters, Kaitlin Lorelei Kelly, and Sara Violet Kelly of Norcross. Her surviving brothers and sisters are Jasper Barney Hulsey of Buford, Sharon Claudia Schuler of Pineville, N.C., Carol Jeanette Owens of Suches, John Timothy Hulsey of British Columbia, and Deborah Susan Fowler of Athens. Surviving aunts are Georgia Etta Houseknecht of Lilburn, Sally Lee Gailey of Savannah, and Ann Johnson of Litchfield Maine, plus a number of loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Pat lived a full life. She was a member of the honor society and star student at Hoke Smith High in Atlanta. She attended Georgia State University while working as an executive assistant in the catering department at the Biltmore Hotel. She went on to work in property management and after becoming a Real Estate Broker she opened Pat Kelly Realty in historic downtown Norcross. Pat and her associate, Paul Aland, were instrumental in the preservation of the downtown Norcross area. Pat had a strong belief in justice and was an activist for the many causes she believed in, from supporting the civil rights movement to marching in Atlanta’s Grandmothers March for Peace in 2008. In later life Pat became an artist, mostly working with bamboo grown in a grove behind her house. She also spent many hours restoring her historic home in Norcross. A celebration of her life will be held in her home at 370 Thrasher St. Norcross at 2:00p.m. on Saturday, 8/11/12.
