LONDON -- Norcross grad Jangy Addy won his group or heat in three of the five events Wednesday, putting him 20th overall in the Olympic decathlon competition.
Addy, competing for Liberia, has 4,081 total points, well behind the 4,661 of American gold medal favorite Ashton Eaton. There are 31 decathletes in the field.
Addy won his 100-meter heat in 10.89 seconds and also took first in his 400 heat in 48.64. His shot put toss of 49 feet, 1 inches was best in his group. His long jump Wednesday was 22-7 and he cleared 6-4 in the high jump.
The remainder of the decathlon events will be held today.
