SNELLVILLE -- Supporters of quadruple amputee Hannah Rinehart have launched a website as a platform to share her story and to assist her husband, Mark, a South Gwinnett High School math teacher.
Hannah fell ill in late June after contraction a rare bacterial infection from dog saliva. By late July, the tissue in her hands and feet had deteriorated to the point that her extremities had to be amputated to save her life.
A patient care technician in DeKalb County, Hannah, 32, had successfully battled Hodgkin's lymphoma for years, and had advocated for cancer research at Relay For Life events.
"We're trying to get (the website) up so that we can maintain a blog and guestbook," said husband Mark Rinehart, a Lawrenceville native and 2002 Central High School graduate. "All that is currently in the works."
Hannah is slowly recovering in the ICU at Northside Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
