Public asked to nominate favorite teachers

DULUTH -- Georgia United Credit Union and Star94 have teamed up to reward teachers who make a difference in children's lives with the "Teachers Make a Difference" appreciation program.

The public is asked to nominate any teacher who has inspired you or your child by visiting the Georgia United website at georgiaunitedcu.org or mailing the form to Star94 at ATTN: Teacher Nominations, 3350 Peachtree Road N.E., Suite 1800, Atlanta, Ga., 30326.

The nominees need to be currently teaching full-time at an accredited public or private school in the state of Georgia.

Winners will receive cash prizes for themselves and their school. One grand prize winner will be given a $2,000 scholarship toward furthering their studies in education.

All nominations need to be turned in by Sept. 21.

How in the heck are we to evaluate teachers? I work, no children. Will she come and mow grass, do laundry, paint? I think the evaluations should be by secret ballot by their peers.
