ATLANTA — Powerful thunderstorms sent a lightning bolt crashing into a home in Fayette County and toppled a tree onto a restaurant in Atlanta.
Firefighters say that eight people were taken to a hospital with minor injuries Thursday after lightning struck their home as they sat under an awning outside in Fayette County.
In Atlanta, authorities say a large tree crashed into the main dining room of Fox Brothers Bar-B-Q on DeKalb Avenue around 6 p.m. Thursday. No one was hurt. The owners of the restaurant said it will be closed until they're able to repair the damage.
