GAINESVILLE — Some boat ramps are closing at Lake Lanier as the water level continues to drop.
Lake Lanier's water level this week dropped just below 1,063.02 feet above sea level, more than 3 feet lower than it was this time last year.
Pat Robbins, a spokesman for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, says the lower level led to the closure of boat ramps at Burton Mill, Duckett Mill and Bethel Park.
The corps operates 104 boat ramp lanes on Lanier.
The corps determines lanes are "not usable" when the end of the ramp is in less than 3 feet of water.
Corps predictions for the lake are for it to drop another 2 feet in elevation by Sept. 1.

maybe the COE should stop draining the lake.

The lake level is controlled mostly by man, not by nature.Quit draining it down!
