Duo arrested after poodle left in car leads to altercation with cops

BUFORD -- Busted for allegedly leaving her poodle in a sweltering car in the parking lot of a Buford Costco, police said Kelda Gordon yelled an expletive-laced excuse at responding officers.

To summarize: nature had called.

Gordon, 41, was arrested Monday outside the Costco store on Mall of Georgia Boulevard and charged with cruelty to animals, obstruction of an officer and disorderly conduct. According to a Gwinnett County police report, officers found a gray poodle locked inside her Ford Escape at about 2:15 p.m.

Witness reports had the dog there alone for as long as 45 minutes before officers arrived. Police had an animal control officer en route while they waited for Gordon to resurface. She and a male companion, 37-year-old Juan Alvarado-Salas, reportedly came back to the car at about 2:40 p.m.

It was 99 degrees outside at the time, officers wrote.

Confronted about the situation, Gordon allegedly began yelling at police officers and said she was inside for no longer than 20 minutes. Gordon told police she had gone inside to use the bathroom, albeit in more graphic terms,

"That's why I left the (expletive) dog in the car!" Gordon shouted, according to the police report.

Gordon was placed under arrest after a few more outbursts. During that process, Alvadaro-Salas reportedly grabbed an officer's wrist and "attempted to jerk (his) grasp" away from the handcuffs being placed on Gordon. Alvadaro-Salas was then arrested himself and also charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction of an officer and cruelty to animals.

According to the report, Gordon later bumped her chest against the arresting officer and said, "I wish these handcuffs were not on! I would kick your (expletive)!"

Both suspects were charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly using expletive language around children in the store's parking lot.

The poodle was taken into the custody of animal control.

Just an example of the trash that has taken over Gwinnett County in the last 10 years.

Put this duo in the same car under the same conditions in order to learn how that dog felt.
