PEACHTREE CORNERS -- Peachtree Corners Mayor Mike Mason issued an open letter to his city's residents this week, asking for volunteers to join a pair of groups that will help shape the community.
Mason's letter, dated Tuesday, called for interested residents to apply for volunteer positions on the new city's planning commission and zoning board of appeals.
Members of the zoning board of appeals will help hear cases in which fellow residents and businesses present their appeals to existing development codes in hopes of being granted exceptions. Those on the planning commission will work as an advisory board and review studies done by staff in order to make recommendations to the city council to approve or deny zoning requests.
Those interested can apply at cityofpeachtreecornersga.com. Anyone with questions is asked to contact Mason or a city councilmember, whose email addresses can be found on the same website.
"These volunteers do important work, and their input is crucial for making city government a partnership," Mason's letter said. "This is particularly so with a brand new city."
