Arthur "Andy" Horne
ATHENS (AP) — The dean of the University of Georgia's education school has announced that he's stepping down.
When Arthur "Andy" Horne leaves the College of Education in December, he'll be retiring for the second time.
He was named interim dean in 2008. He had retired prior to being appointed dean but agreed to come back to UGA when then-Provost Arnett Mace asked him to stay on in the position permanently following a national search.
Horne says he's proud of the colleges impact on the community and the state. But he said he's 70 years old and wants to spend more time with his wife, who's been retired for six years.
UGA provost and senior vice president for academic affairs on Friday announced a search committee to find Horne's replacement.
