Now that the weather has warmed up, you've put away your winter clothes and remembered how nice it is to wear scandals again, it's time to enjoy the sunshine -- and you'll have plenty of opportunities around the county. Here's a list of some festivals in Gwinnett happening through August.
MOVIES IN THE PARK
Auburn offers free family friendly movies once a month until November. Concessions are available for purchase.
-- When: The second Saturday of every month
-- Where: Downtown Auburn
-- May 12: "Aladdin"
-- June 9: "Jurassic Park"
-- July 14: "Forrest Gump"
-- Aug. 11: "The Iron Giant"
HISTORIC BUFORD SPRING FESTIVAL
Enjoy the new season with chili cook-offs, live music and other stage performances as the city of Buford celebrates 139 years.
-- When: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday
-- Where: Downtown Buford
MALL OF GEORGIA'S MOVIES UNDER THE STARS AND CONCERT SERIES
Weekends through the summer will feature a concert with local talent and an outdoor movie.
-- When: Band begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by movies around 9:30 p.m. or sundown
-- May 26: 12 oz. Prophets, followed by movie "The Smurfs"
-- June 2: Midnite Cruzer, followed by movie "Hugo"
-- June 9: HERO, then "Jack & Jill"
-- June 16: 3 Way Street, then "Alvin & The Chipmunks ChipWrecked"
-- June 23: Drowning Creek, then "Dolphin Tale"
-- June 30: Mike Veal Band, then "We Bought A Zoo"
-- July 4: Mall of Georgia's 10th Annual Fabulous Fourth Lights Up Gwinnett
-- July 14: Foxes & Fossils, then "Monte Carlo"
-- July 21: Line 6, then "Glee: The Concert Movie"
-- July 28: The Ron Jonsons, then "Soul Surfer"
BAREFOOT IN THE PARK
This annual festival celebrates all of the arts, including the performing arts, which are a big part of the event's overall programming.
-- When: Gala at 7 p.m. Friday, festival 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday
-- Where: Duluth Town Green, 3142 Hill St., Duluth
FLICKS ON THE BRICKS
Outdoor movie event throughout the summer.
-- When: Activities begin at 7 p.m., movie starts at dusk
-- Where: Duluth Town Green, 3142 Hill St., Duluth
-- June 9: "Puss in Boots"
-- July 13: "E.T. -- the Extra-Terrestrial"
-- Aug. 11: "Mamma Mia"
SUMMERSTAGE CONCERT SERIES
Live music at the park with outside drinks and beverages encouraged, including beer and wine.
-- When: 7 p.m. July 27 with Glow Band, 2 to 11 p.m. Aug. 25 with Atlanta Rhythm Section
-- Where: Duluth Town Green, 3142 Hill St., Duluth
MOONLIGHT AND MUSIC CONCERT SERIES
From May to September, concerts are help of the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse lawn. Each concert offers various styles of music. Concert-goers can bring a picnic.
When: 8 to 10 p.m. every fourth Friday
Where: Historic Gwinnett Courthouse lawn, 185 E. Crogan St., Lawrenceville
Schedule: May 25: Sons of Sailors, a Jimmy Buffet cover band
June 22: Grains of Sand
July 27: Shawn Mullins
Aug. 24: Abbey Road LIVE!, a Beatles tribute band
Sept. 28: The Highballs, an '80s cover band
AMERICAN INDIAN FESTIVAL
A celebration of American Indian includes storytelling, flute playing, poetry readings, dancing, plus arts and crafts.
When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 26-28
Where: Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, 2405 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville
FOLK FEST 2012
Showcase the work of self-taught artists, Southern folk pottery and more at one of the largest folk art shows in the country.
When: 5 to 10 p.m. Aug. 17, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 18, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 19
Where: North Atlanta Trade Center, 1700 Jeurgens Court, Norcross
Cost: $15 on Aug. 15, $7 Aug. 18 and 19. Children 16 and under are free
SNELLVILLE DAYS
This annual craft festival will feature more than 150 craft and food vendors, children's activities and entertainment throughout Briscoe Park
When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. SundayWhere: Briscoe Park, 2500 Sawyer Parkway, Snellville
Sugar Hill
REELS AT ROBINSON
Outdoor movie event for families at E.E. Robinson Park.
When: Movies start at dusk on May 18, June 15, July 27. Movies to be announced.
Where: E.E. Robinson Park, 850 Level Creek Road, Sugar Hill
ART ON A LIMB
Throughout the month of May, two pieces of original artwork by Dacula based artist Sandra Nissen will be hidden along the Suwanee Creek Greenway and other trails. And remember: Finders, keepers.
When: Once daily in May
Where: Suwanee Creek Greenway, 1170 Buford Highway, Suwanee
HIGH SCHOOL NIGHT OF JAZZ
Area schools come together to perform jazz music.
When: 7 p.m. May 11
Where: Town Center Park, 330 Town Center Ave., Suwanee
ARTS IN THE PARK
Art event with vendors from all over the state and country to sell their wares and pieces.
When: 11 a.m. May 19
Where: Town Center Park, 330 Town Center Ave., Suwanee
BROADWAY IN THE PARK
This year, Suwanee Performing Arts presents "Little Mermaid, Jr." and Filligan's Island.
When: 8 p.m. July 27-28
