NORCROSS — One Norcross teenager is in a coma and another charged with hit-and-run after a joy-riding accident.
Norcross police say they believe as many as eight teens skipped school on Friday to car surf. They say as many as three teens were riding on the outside of the car when it flipped, trapping 16-year-old Alex Mora underneath.
Mora is in a medically-induced coma at the Gwinnett Medical Center as a result of the accident. His family says doctors expect Mora to remain in a coma for another week or two. They say doctors believe the worst is over.
Driver Alejandro Barrita-Rodriguez has been charged with hit-and-run. Reports say he has bonded out of jail.
