LAWRENCEVILLE -- Police need the public's help in catching a purse snatcher.
Gwinnett police officials released surveillance images Friday of a man suspected of wrenching a purse from a Western Union employee's hands as she closed the Lawrenceville-area business April 17.
The robbery happened about 10:15 p.m. at a Western Union location at 3059 U.S. Highway 29. As the victim left and locked up, a gray Chevrolet Impala (year 2006 to 2012) pulled near her. A man exited the car, snatched the purse and drove away.
The Impala had a non-functioning left brake light and also appeared to have a Peach Pass affixed to the windshield, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith.
The suspect is described as a black man between 30 and 35 years old, about 6 feet tall and 160 pounds.
Police urge anyone with information regarding the suspect or vehicle to call robbery unit detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.
